Cell Phone Music Player: A Good Idea?

Cell Phone Music Player: A Good Idea?So you’ve decided you want a phone and music player combined. As a smart buyer, you habitually look at only wholesale cell phones because you believe that is the optimal way to ensure the best value. What should you be looking for as you browse your cell phone wholesaler’s internet site or catalogue?

To start with, are you getting rid of your MP3 device or are you adding to it? If you plan to replace your IPod in favor of a combined “calls and songs” instrument, you will probably want a more sophisticated product so you don’t end up longing for all the multi-faceted features of your “music-only” player.

You want to be confident that your cutting-edge music phone will operate with the audio files you use most often. Being able to tune in FM radio is a great feature as well. Memory is critical - if you are storing not only songs but photos and the like, you want to make sure you have sufficient capacity or can add more memory.

Your wholesale cell phone should also have fundamental call capacities, like TM, conference calling, call waiting, caller ID and speakerphone. Having the little extras like calendar and note pad is also nice.

Cell Phone Music Player: A Good Idea?Another consideration is looks. Your music phone should draw attention. You’d like your co-workers to sit up and take notice when you pull out your music phone! Your cell phone wholesaler’s shelves will offer numerous choices of design. One choice will be how the cell phone opens: flip, slide, or bar. Each has its advantages, but for a music phone, you probably want to shield the buttons and screen, so the flip phone or slide will be best. Another of your choices will be color and pattern, from flashy to elegant. Chose a design that is fun!

You can review a variety of reviews that will contrast all of the crucial information you need: cost, features, functions, buyer satisfaction, and expert ratings. Research first on the internet, talk to friends, and look at Consumer Reports or other trusted source before you order your wholesale cell phone and music player.

Finally, be sure you are comfortable with replacing your music player completely and relying on one device. As handy as the music cell phone may be, there are disadvantages to it. If you are that person who accidentally loses the cell phone down the WC, misplaces it regularly, crushes it in the driveway, absentmindedly puts it in the refrigerator, you are not a good candidate for a single device! If the phone goes, the music dies! At least if you have both a phone and a player, you have a better than even chance of keeping the songs you treasure so much.

Nextel Phones For Free??

Nextel Phones For Free??What’s the catch with the free cell phone deals? Are they really free or do you get the bait and switch once you get to the store?

It’s well known that cell phones are going to be a part of our economy for many years to come. As a matter of fact they’ve become a need in our society today. When searching for a cell phone there are a few different things to consider. First of course you need to select a carrier. Nextel phones are very popular. They are a great wireless company and very competitive in the market. Once you’ve chosen a carrier you must choose a place to get your cell phone and service plan. Most people just go to the mall or the local cellular store. What they don’t realize is no matter where they go the monthly plan is going to be the same. Everyone gets the same deal no matter what. The plans are all preset for any Nextel phone service you want. Most don’t realize that the only place to save money is on the up front cost of the equipment. For example, you might visit the local wireless store and choose a blackberry to go with your new service plan. If the blackberry is lets say $450.00 new they might offer you a 50% discount because you’re signing a brand new 2 year contract. So you end up paying $225.00 for the phone up front. This money is usually a total profit which will go to commission, rent for the store, and overhead.

Nextel Phones For Free??So how exactly can you find the absolute lowest up front cost on Nextel phones? Well first you want to consider the internet. Online shopping has become extremely popular over the past decade. When choosing a cellular phone you can usually find the lowest price on the internet. There are no employees to pay and no utility or rent to pay either. The savings is then passed directly to the customer? It is important to make sure the company you purchase from online is an authorized dealer. Many online stores advertise free Nextel phones. That’s usually very appealing to a potential customer. The only problem is they usually have a small selection of phones to choose from and usually they’re the cheap phones that don’t have many features. I am a firm believer that the majority of wireless phones should be free with the exception of the ones that are really high priced. As a matter of fact roughly 80% of them should be free. I have personally taken the time to find that most of the best deals for Nextel cell phones is online. There are a couple of different sites which seem to be reputable and actual authorized dealers. Once you find what you’re looking for online and compare to what you find at the local wireless store, you’ll find that the internet is the way to save money.

So in conclusion I can only ask, why would you want to pay someone more money than a phone is worth. After all an object is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Are you willing to pay more somewhere else for the same product you can get right here on line?

I am a business man that reviews many different cell phones and cell phone companies and I hope to provide the best information for consumers.

Cheapest Wireless Cell Phone Plans

Cheapest Wireless Cell Phone Plans

Cell phone plans vary in the number of minutes you get to use. If you are looking for a wireless plan that is cheap and fits your needs, read on…

Some plans offer unlimited minutes, while the cheapest cell phone plans offer 200 minutes or so. In addition to talk time, you should also check whether the operator provides unlimited text messaging, so that you can send SMSs to your friends and family. You will have to pay extra, if you want unlimited wireless data usage, which means you can surf the Internet as much as you want. Some operators offer handset insurance. For example, Sprint offers Total Equipment Protection, where you have to pay a monthly charge known as a premium. If you lose your cell phone or if it breaks, the operator will send you a replacement phone or get it repaired.

The coverage is another factor that is important. An operator’s coverage can be local, regional or national. You can view a carrier’s coverage by looking at its coverage map, which is available at the carrier’s web site. You should get good coverage in the area where you live, and also in places where you travel to. If you go outside the coverage area, you will have to pay overages such as roaming charges and long-distance charges. These international calling rates are usually quite high, so you should try to avoid them.

You can either select a post-paid plan or a pre-paid plan. If you choose to go with post-paid, there will be a long-term contract, which may last for 1 or 2 years. With post-paid, you will receive a bill at the end of every month. You will also have to pay an early termination fee, if you leave your contract before it ends. If you go with a pre-paid, you buy minutes before actually using them by buying a mobile recharge card known as a SIM card. This is also known as ‘pay as you go’.

Cheapest Wireless Cell Phone PlansWhen choosing an operator, you also need to select a cell phone. You can buy a simple phone that does only voice calls, or an advanced phone known as a smartphone. The iPhone is also popular nowadays, with its touch-screen interface. You can also upgrade your cell phone, when doing a contract extension with your carrier. Unlocked phones are cell phones that work with more than one carrier.

The best cell phone operators should experience few periodic outages. There should also be a small number of dropped calls, and the calls should be clear with little or no static. You can also a buy an amplifier to boost the signal in your building.

AT&T offers Rollover minutes, which means the minutes that you don’t use in this month carry forward to the next month. Night minutes may be unlimited, which means talking between 9 PM and 6 AM is free. Weekend minutes are also unlimited, which means talking during Saturday and Sunday is free. Mobile-to-mobile minutes are also unlimited, which means you can talk to another person with the same carrier for free.

T-Mobile offers myFaves minutes, which means you can talk to five people of your choice for free. T-Mobile also offers Whenever minutes, which can be used at any time. Some carriers also offer unlimited in-calling minutes, which means you can talk on incoming calls for free. Sprint offers Music Premier to download songs, and TV Premier to watch shows and movies. Most cell phone operators also offer voicemail, call forwarding and conference calling.

Verizon offers the V Cast Video, which delivers video content to mobile phones. The VPak subscription offers ESPN and music clips. Verizon also offers the VZ Navigator, which uses GPS to determine your location and give directions to places including landmarks; and mobile email, which means you can send and receive emails on the go. Verizon’s Push to Talk is a Walkie-Talkie radio feature available at the touch of a button, while Get It Now allows you to download applications such as games, ringtones and wallpapers.

Alltel Customer: What You Need To Know About Verizon’s Buyout

Alltel Customer: What You Need To Know About Verizon's BuyoutHere’s just some important highlights regarding Verizon’s purchase of Alltel and how it will affect Alltel customers.

I am perhaps one of the few people in the city of Minneapolis who has an Alltel Wireless cell phone plan. In fact, I would have switched to another carrier long ago (probably AT&T so I could get an iPhone) if I wasn’t getting a great discount thanks to my parents and our family plan. Plus, Alltel’s My Circle feature is a huge bonus.

It allows you to select up to ten phone numbers that you can call without using any minutes from your plan. I would estimate that I use less than 100 minutes every month because the people I call frequently are either Alltel customers (free mobile-to-mobile is great, too) or I have their numbers on My Circle. Alltel doesn’t have any stores in the area because they are a predominately rural carrier here, so if I need to have my phone serviced I have to drive back to my hometown in south-central Minnesota, but that’s been just a slight annoyance overall.

Now, not even a year after my family switched from a local carrier (Midwest Wireless) which was acquired by Alltel, Verizon has bought out Alltel. Things won’t be completely switched over for several months now, but in preparation I decided to investigate how the switch-over will take place. To make things easier for my fellow Alltel users out there, I’ll list the most important changes that will take place. You will receive more detailed information from Alltel/Verizon in the upcoming months, but in the meantime, here’s a quick overview:

Can I just switch to Verizon now, before the transition is complete?

You can, but you will be subject to the same early contract release fees. It would be no different than switching from Alltel to any other carrier; if you are still under an Alltel contract, you would still be charged to be released from it early even if you are simply switching to Verizon.

Will my Alltel phone still work after the switch?

99% of Alltel phones will work just fine after the switch. The only phones that might not work are probably ancient (which, by technology standards, is anything five years or older) in which case you should probably just get a new phone when the switch happens anyway.

Alltel Customer: What You Need To Know About Verizon's BuyoutWill I get to keep My Circle?

As long as you are still billed under Alltel, then yes, you will get to keep your precious My Circle. Verizon has yet to decide if it will offer a similar service after the transition takes place.

Will I need a new plan and/or phone to use Verizon-only services like V Cast?

Yes. After the switch takes place, you would need to purchase a Verizon phone in order to use those features. If your main concerns are simply calling and texting, you won’t need to worry about this.

Will my local Alltel store stay open during the transition?

Yes. Verizon will gradually change the signage and whatnot as they transition the area’s customers.

This is SO annoying! Who do I complain to - Alltel or Verizon?

I’d try calling Alltel, since you are currently their customer and not yet a Verizon customer.

Where do I go to get more information about this?

You can check out Alltel’s website (alltel.com, of course) and click the link at the top of the page regarding the integration into the Verizon network. Or, you can simply wait until Alltel sends you more details in the upcoming months.

Best of luck to Alltel, Verizon, and their customers during this transition! I hope it goes well, but if it doesn’t, I figure I can always cancel my plan and get that iPhone, right?

GPS Cell Phone Tracking: How to Track a Cell Phone Location

A GPS cell phone tracker enables us to track the whereabouts of anyone under a standard set of conditions. It has come as a big relief for parents anxious about their away from home teenagers or bosses tracking their employees on a field visit.

GPS Cell Phone Tracking: How to Track a Cell Phone Location

The need for a system which could locate a person was felt excessively after the 9/11 attack. The Global Positioning System or GPS is by far the most convenient technology that can be integrated easily in a mobile phone. All cell phone carriers in US were required to integrate cell phone tracking in their devices, by the end of 2005. This would have been possible only with a significant spending on infrastructure through tower setup and modifications. In order to avoid these extra costs, the cell phone operators came up with a plan to incorporate GPS technology in the handsets. These system led to a widespread popularity of the mobile phone tracking system, the details of which are explained below.

The GPS receiver that is taken along for a hiking trip is significantly different from what a mobile phone had ingrained in it. Most cell phones do not allow direct access to the collected GPS data. It is only in case of an emergency request that the associated GPS data is provided by the operator. The wireless network is actively involved in this process of specifically determining the location of the the tracked cell phone. Hence, the constraints faced in this tracking process are:

  • The tracked device must have a cellphone that has GPS service activated in it at the time of tracking.
  • The operator network of the concerned cell phone must be tracked accurately and in use for locating the phone.
  • The wireless network containing the cell phone system in use must be identified.

However, once this technology is integrated in the cellphone, an anonymous tracer can also locate it, simply on the basis of the signals emitted from the cellphones.

GPS Cell Phone Tracking: How to Track a Cell Phone Location

The Mechanism

A cellphone is continuously sending and receiving signals to and from the nearest operator tower. Even in the standby mode, a cellphone is ‘active’ with the wireless communication. A GPS functionality is similar in operation to the GPS navigation tool, that one usually takes for remote outings. Thus, a cellphone can be tracked easily. Both the CDMA and GSM technology enabled cellphones can be tracked using a GPS system.

The signals received from cellphones are located by the cellphone service provider by analyzing the signals. Initially, two or three towers nearest to the cellphone are located. These figures are then compared with regards to the relative strengths of their signals. A complicated set of algorithms determine the tower under which, the cell phone signals are strongest. Using this method, a cellphone can be traced to within a 100 meters of its exact place. This is a very handy service for locating a person (the cellphone user) in case, he is in danger or help track down a potential miscreant, terrorist and so on.

Legal and Privacy Issues

If these tracking systems can be used by everyone, it may result in the infringement or intrusion of an individual’s privacy. Therefore, it is important to understand the legal issues concerning the use of GPS cellphone tracking. The first rule to understand is that it is absolutely legal to run a reverse check-up in a directory to identify a person associated with the cellphone number that is traced. Simply by using a cellphone number, one can determine the person who may be a malicious caller or any such case.

GPS real time tracking of a person is quite possible, by using certain softwares and hardware tools. But this process is absolutely illegal. Although, it may be able to trace the location of a person on a real time basis, in case of an emergency, it can also benefit anti-social elements like stalkers or kidnappers. Therefore, real time tracking is best dealt with, only by law enforcement officials and not ordinary users.

Also, many companies provide their employees with a cellphone which may include GPS tracking. Therefore, adherence to a company’s policy also amounts to consenting to compromise one’s privacy. Certain precautions like regularly checking the device for malicious software, updating the cellphone features with the service provider and a decided tracking option with near and dear ones will ensure best use of this technology.
